PGT Windows & Doors in Miami, CA | Sightline Windows & Doors
We provide independent PGT window and door service across Miami, from Hialeah to Brickell to Miami Beach. What makes our PGT work different here comes down to one thing: Miami-Dade County is a High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, which means every repair or replacement we touch has to answer to the Notice of Acceptance (NOA) database, not just the manufacturer’s spec sheet. We’re not PGT-authorized and we won’t pretend to be. We’re a Miami-based installer and service provider that knows which PGT product generations carry which NOA numbers, and how to keep those systems performing in salt air and 75% humidity. Call (509) 265-6387 for a written estimate before any work starts.
Why Miami Residents Choose Us for PGT Service
We repair PGT WinGuard, SpectraGuard, PremierVue, and EnergyVue lines every week across Miami-Dade’s HVHZ market, including PGT service in Hialeah. That matters because a technician who only knows PGT from a catalog won’t recognize how a salt-crept WinGuard sill in Coconut Grove fails differently than the same extrusion in an inland subdivision. Sonia Raman, our owner, studied building construction technology at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College and has spent years reading rough openings, frame conditions, and glazing failures the way most people read a utility bill. She’ll tell you the U-factor on a west-facing wall and then explain why it matters for your electric bill in August. We carry OEM-compatible parts for current PGT generations and AAMA-certified aftermarket seals, rollers, and balance systems for discontinued ones. Every estimate is written. Every job ends with a photo record. That’s Haven Clauses 1 and 4: have it in writing, evidence on every job.
Common PGT Windows & Doors Problems We Solve in Miami

- Salt-creep oxidation on WinGuard aluminum frames. In waterfront areas like Coconut Grove and Surfside, marine air pushes chloride into the extrusion at sill corners and screw bosses. What starts as white powder becomes pitting within a few years. We see it on 8-to-10-year-old frames that would still be clean in an inland market. The fix is often new marine-grade Kynar-coated corner keys and re-sealing, not a full frame replacement, unless the pitting has gone deep enough to compromise the NOA-rated profile.
- SpectraGuard vinyl sashes binding after humidity cycles. Miami’s humidity runs above 75% most of the year. Vinyl expands. Over time, SpectraGuard sashes bind at the meeting rail or the track, especially on larger openings where expansion adds up across a wide span. We re-square the sash, adjust cam rollers where the hardware allows it, and replace the balance system if the constant friction has worn it down.
- PremierVue interlocking meeting rails losing their seal. In high-rise Brickell condos, wind-driven rain pushes hard against non-impact PremierVue. The interlock at the meeting rail is the weak point. Once the weatherstripping degrades or the interlock is out of square by even a few millimeters, water gets in. We re-align the meeting rails and replace the interlock weatherstripping with silicone or Santoprene profiles rated for coastal exposure.
- Roller wheel failures on older WinGuard SGD760 sliding glass doors. Beach sand is the culprit. It infiltrates the bottom track, grinds the roller wheels flat, and then the door drags or jumps the rail. We replace the rollers with stainless-steel carriers and clean the track, then check the interlock and the threshold for wear. The door usually doesn’t need replacing.
- Rusted block-and-tackle balances on single hung windows. A 1972 CBS house in Little Havana taught us this one. The lower sash wouldn’t stay up because the original balances had rusted solid from decades of humidity. We swapped in stainless balances, re-taped the NOA label into the frame, and the house passed its next inspection. Three weeks later the same inspector flagged that house for non-impact windows, and we were back quoting full-frame SpectraGuard replacements.

AfterPGT Service in Miami: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
Miami-Dade County is one of only two High-Velocity Hurricane Zones in the United States. The other is Broward. That distinction is not a marketing phrase. It means every PGT window and door job here, whether it’s a hardware repair or a full-frame replacement, legally requires a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance on file. In Tampa or Orlando, a state-level Florida Product Approval covers the permitting. Here, the product has to be listed in the Miami-Dade NOA database, and the installer has to know how to pull that document and match it to the specific product generation on the wall. We do this on every PGT job. When we repair a WinGuard or SpectraGuard window, we re-verify the NOA label is in place and legible in the frame, because the next inspection will look for it. When we quote a replacement, the NOA number goes on the written estimate. That’s not a value-add. It’s the legal floor.
PGT Models & Products We Service in Miami

Our techs work on PGT WinGuard Aluminum Impact, SpectraGuard Vinyl Impact, PremierVue Aluminum Non-Impact, and EnergyVue Vinyl Non-Impact lines. We also service horizontal roller and sliding impact windows, and we handle full frame replacement when the existing extrusion is too far gone to rebuild. For parts, we source genuine PGT-marked components when they are still available from the manufacturer’s distribution network. For discontinued WinGuard and SpectraGuard generations, we use AAMA-certified aftermarket seals, rollers, and balance systems that meet Miami-Dade NOA performance requirements. The honest call is our standard: rebuild the frame and replace glass only when the original aluminum shows deep pitting or the laminated impact glass is delaminating. We’d rather repair what’s serviceable than sell you a replacement you don’t need. For a closer look at our broader PGT work, see PGT sales & service.
PGT Service Pricing in Miami
Here’s how pricing breaks down for common PGT repairs and replacements in Miami-Dade:
| Service | Typical Price Range |
|---|---|
| WinGuard / SpectraGuard hardware repair (balance, roller, lock) | $95 to $310 |
| Weatherstripping or interlock seal replacement per window | $85 to $240 |
| SGD760 sliding door roller replacement | $180 to $420 |
| Full-frame PGT impact window replacement (per opening) | $1,800 to $4,600 installed |
| NOA verification and documentation | Included with every estimate |
What drives the cost is the condition of the extrusion, the age of the product generation, and whether the opening is in a historic district with additional review. Every quote we give is written, line-by-line, and the measured survey document you keep is the same document we price from. That’s Haven Clause 1, and it’s non-negotiable. If you want an exact number for your opening, call (509) 265-6387 and we’ll schedule a free measured survey.

FAQs - PGT Windows & Doors in Miami
For repairs that don’t change the glazing or the structural frame, you generally do not need a new NOA submission. What you do need is to keep the existing NOA label legible and intact in the frame so the next inspection passes clean. When we repair a WinGuard or SpectraGuard window in Miami, we verify that label as part of the job and re-tape it if it’s peeling. If the repair involves replacing the laminated impact glass or rebuilding the frame, the permit path changes and the NOA documents come back into play. Call (509) 265-6387 and we’ll tell you which path your job falls under before you spend a dollar.
Salt-laden marine air. Coconut Grove and Surfside sit close enough to the water that chloride particles ride in the humidity and settle on aluminum extrusions. Without a Kynar or comparable marine-grade coating, standard aluminum shows white oxidation at screw bosses and sill corners within eight to ten years. Inland Miami, even a few miles west, sees far less of this. The fix is often new coated corner keys and re-sealing rather than a full replacement, unless the pitting has compromised the extrusion’s structural profile.
Yes, but it has to go through the Miami Beach historic preservation board review first. That board restricts aluminum color, profile depth, and muntin patterns, which limits which PGT impact window configurations can be used. We have worked with that review process before and we spec the product to the board’s requirements before you order anything. It adds time to the job, but it is not optional if you want the installation to pass. We document every board-required detail in the written scope so there’s no ambiguity later.
It depends on what the inspector flagged. Miami-Dade’s 40-year recertification law requires an engineer to evaluate the building envelope, and if non-impact fenestration is marked as a structural deficiency, repair is usually not accepted. The inspector’s report drives the answer. We have seen cases where re-sealing and hardware replacement bought a few years, but when the report says the windows are non-compliant under current HVHZ code, replacement is the only path that clears the recertification. We quote our Window Replacement in Miami with the NOA numbers included so the board can review everything in writing.
The rattling is almost always worn rollers, a worn interlock, or both. On the SGD760, the interlock is designed to press the two door panels together under wind load, but after years of beach sand in the track and humidity swelling, the rollers wear flat and the interlock loosens. The fix is new stainless steel rollers and re-alignment of the interlock, plus new weatherstripping where it has compressed. Most of the time the door itself stays. Call (509) 265-6387 for a written estimate on the repair, and we’ll tell you whether the door is worth rebuilding or if replacement is the cheaper long-term call.
