PGT Windows & Doors in Dallas, CA | Sightline Windows & Doors
We provide independent PGT window and door service across Dallas, TX, specializing in repair-first solutions for WinGuard, 5500, and 7700 series products. The one thing that makes our PGT work here different: we understand how Dallas’s expansive clay soil racks frames out of square and causes failures that look like product defects but are actually foundation movement. Call (509) 265-6387 for a written estimate before any work starts.
Since 2012, our team has installed and serviced more than 18,000 windows and doors across eight product categories, including the full PGT lineup. As an independent service provider, we are not manufacturer-affiliated or authorized by PGT. What we are is hands-on familiar with how PGT products fail in North Texas specifically. Our PGT sales & service team carries OEM-compatible parts for fast turnaround across the metroplex, and every job leaves with a documented photo record under the Haven Standard.
Why Dallas Residents Choose Us for PGT Service
Sonia Raman, our owner, studied building construction technology at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College and spent two decades measuring, setting, and finishing window and door installations before founding Sightline. She reads a rough opening correctly the first time, because in Dallas the measurement is the diagnosis. A PGT window that binds in August won’t be fixed by swapping hardware if the real problem is a slab corner that dropped half an inch when the gumbo clay shrank.
We write the price down before any tool is lifted. That’s Haven Clause 1, and it means the measured survey you keep and the written quote cannot differ. Our technicians are background-checked, uniformed, and identified by license number before arrival. When you call, a live person answers. Not a voicemail queue, not a callback window. And every completed job is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right. That’s written into our standard, not offered as a courtesy.
Common PGT Windows & Doors Problems We Solve in Dallas

- Failed IGU seals showing fog between the panes. Dallas temperature swings from 105°F summers to single-digit freezes put enormous stress on PGT insulated glass units. Add clay-driven frame racking, and the seal fails years earlier than it would in a stable-soil market. We replace the IGU, not the whole window, whenever the frame is sound.
- WinGuard sliders and double-hungs that bind or won’t lock. Foundation movement in Garland, Irving, and Mesquite routinely twists rough openings out of square. The hardware hasn’t failed; the opening moved. We reset sashes, replace compression jamb liners, and diagnose whether the slab needs attention before the fix disappears in November.
- Vinyl frame warping on south- and west-facing elevations. Older Dallas neighborhoods with original PGT vinyl frames see warping and cracking after years of direct 100°F+ exposure. We assess whether the frame can be restored or if replacement is the only structurally sound option.
- Weatherstripping compression set and failed caulk joints. Hail, UV, and freeze-thaw cycles compound faster in Dallas than most comparable metros. Worn weatherstripping on PGT casements and awnings lets conditioned air escape and drives up cooling costs.
- Multi-point lock fatigue on entry doors. Preston Hollow custom homes often carry PGT multi-point lock sets that wear unevenly when the door frame shifts seasonally. We stock replacement lock sets and can convert most doors back to smooth operation without replacing the entire unit.

AfterPGT Service in Dallas: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
Dallas sits atop deep layers of expansive montmorillonite “black gumbo” clay that swells with winter rains and shrinks violently during summer droughts. That’s not a geology footnote. It’s the reason we routinely find PGT windows in Garland, Irving, and Mesquite that operate perfectly at the shop but bind hard in the home because the rough opening has shifted out of square by half an inch or more. Sticking doors, windows that won’t lock, and failed IGU seals in Dallas are frequently a soil problem disguised as a window and door problem. A diagnostic reality that service crews from PGT service in Houston or San Antonio rarely encounter at the same scale.
Experienced Dallas door crews know to check the season before diagnosing a binding entry door. A frame that racks tight shut every August when the clay dries and shrinks under one corner of the slab may swing freely again by November after fall rains rehydrate the soil. The “fix” can disappear before the invoice clears. A permanent solution often requires a conversation about foundation stabilization before any hardware swap.
PGT Models & Products We Service in Dallas

We service the complete PGT residential lineup: WinGuard Vinyl, WinGuard Aluminum, 5500 Series, and 7700 Series. That includes impact-rated casements, double-hungs, sliders, picture windows, and entry doors. We use OEM PGT parts whenever available to preserve performance and fit. When lead times or seal-compatibility issues make OEM impractical, we recommend equivalent-grade aftermarket hardware and tell you exactly why before ordering.
Our service approach is repair-first. We rebuild sashes, replace IGUs, and restore operation before recommending full replacement. We only recommend new windows when the frame is structurally compromised or the glass unit is beyond resealing. That’s the honest math, and it’s the same math we’d apply to our own homes.

FAQs - PGT Windows & Doors in Dallas
Uri’s hard freeze in February 2021 pushed thousands of Dallas PGT IGUs past their thermal tolerance, and we saw a wave of seal failures in the months after. PGT’s warranty covers seal failure for a set period, but you’ll need your original purchase documentation to file a claim. We can inspect the unit, document the failure with photos, and tell you honestly whether a warranty claim is worth pursuing or replacement is faster. Call (509) 265-6387 and we’ll walk you through what we’re seeing.
The short answer is usually no. 1980s-era WinGuard frames were engineered for specific glass thicknesses and impact coatings. Replacing just the glass with modern impact-rated laminate often changes the sightline and may not meet the original design pressure rating. We can assess the frame, pull the PGT stamp codes, and tell you whether a glass-only swap is appropriate or if you need a full sash replacement to maintain the same rating.
Realigning the rollers will help temporarily, but the binding will return next summer unless the underlying slab movement is addressed. In Lake Highlands we had a customer whose WinGuard double-hung wouldn’t lock on the second story. Our tech found the frame racked nearly 3/8 inch out of square after the summer drought dried the clay under the south corner of the slab. We reset the sash, replaced the compression jamb liners with fresh OEM parts, added a low-friction balance shoe, and advised foundation watering to keep the same problem from returning next August. The fix held because we treated the cause, not just the symptom. Call (509) 265-6387 to get a measured read on what’s happening with your door.
Yes. We keep PGT-compatible multi-point lock sets, strike plates, and hardware in stock for the entry doors commonly spec’d in Preston Hollow and other high-end Dallas builds. If we need to order OEM for a specific lock configuration, we’ll tell you the lead time upfront and provide a loaner lock set if the door can’t be secured in the meantime.
Fog between the panes means the seal has already failed and moisture is inside the IGU. Resealing a failed unit isn’t a repair we’d recommend; once moisture is in, the desiccant is spent and the glass will fog again. We replace the IGU itself, keeping your existing frame and sash. Typical cost in Garland runs $280-$520 per unit, and the job is usually done in one visit. Call (509) 265-6387 for a written quote and we’ll measure the exact glass size on site.
