ECO Window Systems Window Replacement: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If you own ECO Window Systems windows and one has failed, we stock compatible replacement units and install them throughout Los Angeles, typically at $850 to $1,800 per opening depending on size, glass package, and frame condition. Most ECO Window Systems replacements we handle are discovered the hard way: a crank stops engaging, fog builds between panes, or water shows up on the sill after the first real rain. The fix is usually a full sash or complete unit replacement, not a patch.
We’re an independent installer, not affiliated with ECO Window Systems. That matters because it means we match your failed unit to what the opening actually needs, whether that’s an OEM ECO Window Systems part or a quality aftermarket equivalent that meets the same performance spec. Our trucks carry the most common ECO replacement components for single-hung, double-hung, and casement lines, so we can often complete the swap in one visit.
Which ECO Window Systems Models This Applies To
ECO Window Systems builds primarily vinyl-frame windows for residential replacement. In Los Angeles, we see three lines most often: the ECO Classic single-hung, the ECO Pro double-hung, and the ECO Casement series. Each uses slightly different balance systems and locking hardware, so identifying the model matters before we order anything.
Check the label first. ECO Window Systems etches or stickers a serial number on the top edge of the sash or inside the frame track, usually beginning with a two-letter series code (CL for Classic, PR for Pro, CA for Casement). If the label is gone, measure the visible glass width and height to the nearest 1/8 inch, then measure the sash profile depth. A Classic sash profile is 2-5/8 inches; a Pro is 3-1/4 inches. That difference determines which balance cartridge and pivot bar your unit needs, and getting it wrong means the window won’t stay up even with new parts.
For older ECO Window Systems units installed before 2018, the factory used a crimped balance shoe that’s no longer available as a direct OEM replacement. We use an aftermarket shoe matched to your sash weight and channel width instead. For the casement line, most hardware failures are in the operator arm or the hinged hardware, both of which we stock for the common sizes.
Signs Your ECO Window Systems Window Replacement Is Failing

- Fog or haze between the panes. The seal around the insulating glass unit has failed, letting moisture into the air space. Once fog appears, the glass is done. No repair restores clarity; the IGU or the sash gets replaced. In Los Angeles, the heat-cool cycle from June to December ages these seals faster than the mild coastal averages suggest. A west-facing ECO window in Encino or Sherman Oaks with direct afternoon sun may lose its seal 4 to 6 years sooner than the same unit on a shaded north wall.
- The sash won’t stay up or drops when released. The balance system has failed. On ECO Classic and Pro series, this is typically a broken spring inside the balance cartridge or a worn pivot bar. It’s not just annoying: a falling sash can pinch fingers or crack the sill. This is a replacement job, not a lubrication job.
- Crank handle spins but the window barely moves. On ECO Casement units, the gears in the operator have stripped or the arm has come off its track. We replace the operator assembly as one piece rather than trying to rebuild gear teeth.
- Air drafts or visible daylight around the sash edge. Weatherstripping has compressed or the sash has warped slightly out of square. If the frame itself is still sound, new weatherstripping and sash adjustment may solve it. If the frame has shifted, you’re looking at a full replacement.
- Water staining on the interior sill or drywall below the window. The glazing bead or the frame’s exterior seal has failed and water is tracking into the wall cavity. In Los Angeles, we catch this most often on south- and west-facing exposures where UV has degraded the exterior sealant. Left alone, the water damage gets more expensive than the window.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For an ECO Window Systems replacement in Los Angeles, expect installed prices to land inside these ranges:
- Glass-only replacement (IGU swap): $350 to $650 per unit. The sash stays in place; we remove the failed glass unit and install a new sealed one. This works only if the frame and sash are in good condition.
- Sash replacement (same frame): $500 to $900 per unit. A new ECO-compatible sash with new balances, pivot bars, and weatherstripping. We do this when the glass is fine but the operating hardware has failed.
- Full window replacement (frame and all): $850 to $1,800 per unit. Complete removal of the old ECO frame, new flashing and sealant, new window installed and trimmed. Price moves with glass package: basic dual-pane sits at the bottom; low-E with argon or tempered glass for code-required locations lands higher.
Every quote from us is written before any work starts, so the number you approve is the number on the final invoice. That’s Haven Clause 1, and it’s how we’ve done every one of the 18,000+ windows and doors we’ve installed since 2012. The written quote includes parts, labor, removal of the old unit, and disposal. Our workmanship on an ECO Window Systems replacement carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?

Most ECO Window Systems replacement work is not a DIY job, but there are a few genuine exceptions. You can remove the sash on most ECO single-hung and double-hung units by tilting it inward and lifting out of the channel, then inspecting the balance shoe and pivot bar. That tells you which part failed, but it doesn’t fix it. Replacing a balance cartridge requires releasing spring tension, and doing that wrong can send a metal cartridge flying with enough force to break fingers or crack the glass next to it. The tension in a fully wound balance is not something to release by hand.
For casement operators, the danger is lower but the frustration is real. The operator assembly is fastened inside a narrow track, and the screw heads are easy to strip. We’ve replaced more than a few after a homeowner gave it twenty minutes and a Phillips head. If you want to diagnose the problem yourself, great. If you want the window working again without a second trip to the hardware store, call us at (509) 265-6387 and we’ll bring the part your model actually needs.
FAQs
Frames typically last 20 to 30 years with proper installation, but the glass seals and operating hardware often fail at 10 to 15 years in Los Angeles because of the wide temperature swings and UV exposure. If you’re seeing fog between panes at year 12, that’s normal aging, not a defect. Call (509) 265-6387 and we’ll tell you whether a glass-only swap extends the unit’s life or whether the whole window has reached the end of its useful range.
Sometimes yes: a glass unit can be swapped, a balance replaced, or a casement operator changed without touching the frame. If the frame itself is cracked, warped, or leaking, repair stops making sense and replacement is the honest answer. We’ll tell you which you’re facing before any money changes hands.
For a glass-only or sash replacement on a stock ECO model, we’re usually in and out in 60 to 90 minutes per window. A full frame replacement takes 2 to 4 hours per opening including cleanup. We document the finished work with photos on every visit, so you can see what was done even if you weren’t watching.
We carry the most common ECO Classic and Pro balance cartridges, pivot bars, casement operators, and weatherstripping profiles on our service trucks serving Los Angeles. If your window needs a less common size or a custom glass unit, we order it and return to install once it’s in hand. Call (509) 265-6387 with your model and dimensions and we’ll confirm what’s available same day.
