Franchise FAQ

Franchising with Sightline Windows & Doors means buying into a system built on one principle: the measurement and the quote are the same document. These are the questions we hear most from candidates, answered as plainly as we would answer them across a table.

Common Questions

Do I need experience in windows and doors to become a franchisee?

No. You need the ability to run a business, hire well, and hold people to a standard. What you don’t bring technically, our training and support systems provide. Many of our strongest candidates come from outside the trades entirely. They come from operations, sales leadership, or general management, and they’re drawn to a model where every job is documented from the first measurement to the final photo record. The Haven Standard exists so that the customer’s experience does not depend on the franchisee’s personal glazing background.

What is the total investment range for a Sightline franchise?

The total initial investment varies by market, real estate costs, and the size of the territory you select. It covers the franchise fee, training, initial inventory of display product lines, vehicles, equipment, and working capital to carry you through the first months of operation. We do not publish a single number because it would be dishonest to do so. The range depends on whether you are opening a showroom in a metro core or a warehouse-first model in an inner suburb. Once you complete an application, we walk you through the specific investment breakdown for your market in writing, before you commit a dollar.

Do you offer financing for the franchise fee or startup costs?

We do not provide financing directly. We do provide the documentation and business model detail that make third-party lending conversations easier, including itemized startup cost schedules and the historical performance data we are permitted to share. Many candidates use SBA-backed loans, and we will work with your lender to help them understand what a Sightline operation actually requires. What we will not do is make projections about your revenue. Anyone who promises you a specific return in franchising is selling you a story, not a business.

Will I have protected territory or exclusivity in my market?

Yes. Each franchisee operates within a defined territory, and we do not sell overlapping territories in the same service area. The specifics of your territory, including population, housing stock, and drive-time boundaries, are laid out in the franchise disclosure document before you sign. We would rather have one franchisee serving an area well than three cannibalizing each other’s trucks. The brand promise depends on local accountability, which means one owner whose name is attached to every job in that territory.

How long is initial training, and what does it cover?

Training runs several weeks and includes both classroom and field components. You will learn the measurement protocol that keeps the quote and the scope identical, the manufacturer line specs across PGT, CGI, CWS, ES Windows, ECO Window Systems, Mr-Glass, Therma-Tru, and ViewLux, and the documentation system that produces the photo record on every completed job. You will also ride along on active installs to see how a verified crew operates under the Haven Standard. Training does not end at launch. We provide ongoing operational support as long as you own the franchise.

What ongoing fees or royalties should I expect?

Like most franchise systems, Sightline charges an ongoing royalty based on gross revenue, plus a contribution toward brand-level marketing and technology. The percentages are disclosed in Item 6 of the FDD, and there are no hidden fees layered on top. What the royalty buys you is real: the manufacturer relationships that keep your product costs competitive, the documentation and scheduling systems that keep crews accountable, and a brand whose name means something when a homeowner searches for window replacement in their neighborhood. We believe a royalty should purchase capability, not just a logo.

How long does it take from signing to opening my doors?

Most franchisees open within three to six months of signing, depending on real estate, permitting, and how quickly they complete training. Candidates who move faster on location selection and staffing tend to open faster. Candidates who try to shortcut training or skip the pre-launch field work tend to open slower, because the system catches them on the back end. We would rather you open six weeks later and run a tight operation than open early and spend a year repairing your reputation in the market.

What support do I actually get after I open?

You get the systems and the people behind them. That includes the scheduling and documentation platform that tracks every job from measured survey to final photo record, the manufacturer relationships that give you pricing power across eight verified lines, the 24/7 live call coverage that handles incoming leads when your office is closed, and a franchise support team that answers operational questions without making you wait a week for a callback. You also get the 365-Day Done Right Promise standing behind every installation. If it is not done right, we make it right. That promise is structural, not motivational.

What kind of person is the ideal Sightline franchisee?

The ideal candidate is precise, unhurried, and allergic to overpromising. You should be the kind of person who would rather show a customer a photo record than charm them with a sales pitch. You do not need to have run a home service business before, but you do need to believe that documentation matters more than personality. If your instinct is to solve problems by writing better systems rather than by working harder at the counter, you will fit. If your instinct is to promise and figure it out later, this is the wrong brand for you.

What is the next step if I want to learn more?

Call the franchise sales line at (509) 265-6387 and tell us which market you are considering. We will walk you through the model, the investment structure, and the territory availability in that area. There is no pressure and no countdown clock. The Haven Standard is built on honesty, and that starts with how we treat people who are exploring the opportunity.
