ES Windows Custom & Geometric Windows in Los Angeles: What to Know First
We install, repair, and replace ES Windows custom and geometric windows throughout Los Angeles as an independent service provider. Most custom geometry jobs, whether an arched transom in Silver Lake or an oversized fixed panel in Brentwood, are measured, quoted in writing, and scheduled within two to four weeks depending on glass fabrication lead times. Our surveys are free, and the written price you receive before any work starts is the price you pay, full stop.
This page is written for ES Windows owners who need something beyond a standard rectangle: arches, circles, trapezoids, oversized openings, and impact-rated geometry. If that’s you, call (509) 265-6387 and we’ll schedule a measured survey.
How ES Windows Products Fail-and How We Fix Them
ES Windows builds a generally solid aluminum product line, but geometry amplifies stress points that rectangular windows never see. Here’s what we actually find on Los Angeles job sites.
- Arched and radius frames leaking at the apex (ES Windows Series 6000 and 7000). The segmented aluminum frame joints at the top of an arch expand and contract at a different rate than the glass. In Los Angeles, where a west-facing arch can see a 40-degree temperature swing between morning marine layer and 4 p.m. sun, the corner sealant eventually cracks. We remove the old sealant, inspect the frame segment alignment, re-bed the joints with a marine-grade structural silicone, and reset the glass with proper setting blocks. The fix usually takes one day.
- Impact-rated geometric sashes binding in the frame (ES Windows impact line, commonly specified in coastal Los Angeles ZIP codes). Wind-load ratings force thicker glazing and heavier sashes. On a trapezoid or parallelogram, the sash weight distribution is uneven, which causes the lower hinge or track to wear faster. The symptom is a sash that operates fine in winter and binds in summer. We check hinge alignment with a digital level, replace worn hinges or rollers with OEM or better-spec aftermarket parts, and adjust the sash geometry within factory tolerance.
- Condensation between the panes of custom-shaped insulated glass units. This is a seal failure, not a humidity problem. On shaped glass, the seal path is longer and more complex than on a rectangle, so seal failure shows up earlier. ES Windows’ own warranty covers failed IGUs for a set period, but the labor to remove and reset a large arch or circle is rarely included. We will tell you the warranty situation in writing before touching the window. When the unit is out of warranty, we order custom-shaped replacement IGUs from a fabricator we’ve used for years, not from a wholesale catalog.
- Geometric fixed windows with cracked corners (typically found on Series 8000 oversized fixed units). A perfectly square 90-degree cut in a large fixed window transfers stress to the corner. On a circle or half-round, that stress concentrates at the point where frame segments meet. We’ve replaced the glass and added stress-relief spacers at the corner joints to prevent recurrence, which is a repair approach you won’t find on the manufacturer’s site.
- Oversized openings where the existing ES Windows frame was never properly load-rated for the replacement glass. We see this in Mid-Century Modern homes in the Hollywood Hills where original single-pane windows were swapped for insulated or impact units without recalculating header and frame loads. The tell-tale sign is a vertical crack running from the top corner of a large fixed panel. We measure the actual opening dimensions, check the header span, and specify a frame package that meets current Los Angeles structural requirements before ordering the glass.
Our ES Windows Custom & Geometric Windows Process

Every geometry job starts with measurement, because a circle that is off by a quarter inch is visibly wrong from the street. Here’s the sequence, in order.
- 1
Call or text us at (509) 265-6387. A live person answers. We schedule a survey, typically within a few days, at a time that works for you.
- 2
Measured survey. Our technician arrives in uniform, with a license number you can verify. We measure every opening with a laser and a physical tape, record frame readings, sightline measurements, and glass thickness to the sixteenth of an inch.
- 3
Written scope and price. You keep the measured survey. The written quote cannot differ from that document. You get one price for the work described, in dollars, with no change orders later.
- 4
Parts decision. We tell you whether OEM ES Windows parts are required (warranty cases) or whether a quality aftermarket equivalent will perform as well or better for less money. The choice is documented in writing.
- 5
Installation or repair. We set the glass, weatherproof, and test every operable sash through full travel. For impact-rated units, we verify the glazing and anchoring meet the original product rating.
- 6
Documented photo record and the 365-Day Done Right Promise. You receive photos of the completed work, including what’s hidden inside the frame cavity. If it’s not done right within the first year, we make it right. That’s written into the Haven Standard, not offered as a courtesy.

AfterWhat ES Windows Custom & Geometric Windows Costs in Los Angeles
Cost depends on glass size, shape complexity, frame condition, and whether you’re repairing or replacing. Here are the ranges we have quoted on real Los Angeles jobs.
| Job Type | Typical Range |
|---|---|
| Custom-shaped IGU replacement (circle or arch, approx. 48″ × 48″) | $850 - $1,400 |
| Arched or radius window frame rebuild, including new glazing bead and sealant | $600 - $1,200 per unit |
| Full replacement of an oversized fixed geometric window, impact-rated, 60″ × 96″ or larger | $3,500 - $7,500 installed |
| Geometric sash hinge or roller replacement (parts and labor) | $280 - $480 per sash |
| Measured survey with written quote (credited toward any work) | Free |
What moves the price: glass thickness or impact rating, access (second-story or exterior ladder work costs more in Los Angeles due to fall-safety requirements), and whether the frame needs rebuilding or just reglazing. We will give you one written number before any work starts. Call (509) 265-6387 for a free measured survey and exact quote.
Why Los Angeles Homeowners Call Sightline Windows & Doors for ES Windows Work

We are an independent ES Windows service provider, not a manufacturer-authorized dealer, so our recommendation to repair versus replace is based on the opening, not on incentive structures. We’ve installed 18,000+ windows and doors since 2012, every one with a written price before work started and a documented photo record when it finished. The 365-Day Done Right Promise is stamped on every job under the Haven Standard, and we build from eight verified manufacturer lines including PGT, CGI, CWS, and ECO Window Systems, so if an ES Windows replacement isn’t the right call for a specific Los Angeles opening, we will tell you what is. Sonia Raman, our owner, learned to measure from her grandfather on the Craftsman bungalows of Silver Lake. Her rule: measure once, write it down, then measure again.
FAQs
In most cases, no. ES Windows warranties cover specific components and time periods, and using an independent contractor does not automatically void coverage. What voids a glass warranty is improper handling, incorrect setting blocks, or the wrong glazing compound. We document our work with photos and written materials specs so you have a record if a warranty claim ever comes up. Call (509) 265-6387 and we’ll review what your warranty covers, in writing, for free.
We can in almost every case. ES Windows uses specific Low-E coatings and glass tints available through commercial glazing fabricators. We measure the existing glass with a tint meter and note the coating code before ordering the replacement unit, so a new arch next to an old one won’t look like a patch. For an exact quote on your specific glass, call (509) 265-6387.
An arched or circular IGU replacement typically costs $850 to $1,400, while a full replacement of the same window can run $3,500 or more. If your frame is sound, the glass is the bulk of the cost. We will show you both numbers in writing and let you decide. Call (509) 265-6387 for a free survey and written comparison.
Most custom-shaped IGUs are fabricated and delivered within two to four weeks. Impact-rated or oversized units can run four to six weeks. We don’t start installation until the glass is on hand and inspected, and we’ll give you a written timeline when you order. Call (509) 265-6387 to schedule a measured survey.
Both. We install custom and geometric ES Windows in new Los Angeles builds and in remodels of existing homes, including openings that were never squared to begin with. For new work, we coordinate with your general contractor on framing dimensions and lead times. For existing homes, we handle the full scope from measurement to final cleanup. Call (509) 265-6387 and we’ll put it in writing.
