CGI Impact Windows & Doors in Los Angeles: What to Know First

CGI impact windows and doors in Los Angeles run $1,100 to $3,800 per opening installed, depending on the series, size, and whether we’re replacing glazing or the full frame. We service and install CGI’s full residential lineup as an independent provider, which means we specify parts and labor without a manufacturer’s sales agenda in the room. Most CGI repairs in LA are completed within 5 to 10 business days once we’ve confirmed the exact series and glass spec on site.

This page is written for homeowners who already own or are specifying CGI windows and doors and want straight answers on failure modes, parts, and real installed costs in the Los Angeles market. We don’t sell anything here. We lay out what we’ve measured and fixed across Los Angeles County since 2012. If you need a written price, call (509) 265-6387 and we’ll schedule a measured survey you keep.

How CGI Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

CGI builds a serious impact product. The aluminum extrusion on their Estate Collection and Sentinel Series is heavier than most of what we pull out of LA homes, and their laminated glass has held up in testing better than some brands we service. That’s the honest context. Then there’s what actually happens in Los Angeles after five, ten, fifteen years of sun, salt air in the beach corridors, and the particular dust that settles in the canyons. These are the failures we see repeatedly.

  • Sentinel Series casement and fixed windows: operator drag from corrosion at the sill track. The Sentinel line uses a multi-point lock system that’s excellent when clean, but the sill track collects fine particulate that mixes with morning condensation near the coast. We service homes from Playa del Rey to San Pedro where this corrosion binds the operator arm. The fix starts with track cleaning and re-lubrication with a dry film lube, and when the operator gear itself is worn, we replace it with an OEM or spec-matched aftermarket assembly rather than forcing the crank, which strips the gear teeth and turns a $175 repair into a full sash rework.
  • SST Single Hung and Double Hung impact windows: balance failure on the heavier sash. CGI’s single-hung impact sash carries significant laminated glass weight. The balances that counter that weight wear differently in LA than in Miami because we don’t have the humidity, but we do have thermal cycling from hot inland afternoons to cold desert nights. In places like Woodland Hills and Tarzana, where summer attic and wall temperatures swing 40 degrees daily, we replace more block-and-tackle balances on CGI hung windows than anywhere else in the county. A sash that drops hard or won’t stay up is usually a spent balance, not a framing problem, and it’s a same-visit fix if we have the balance spec from the window’s sticker or edge marking.
  • CGI sliding glass doors: roller wear concentrated at one end of the panel. We see this pattern on CGI’s sliding door lines across LA. The panel roller at the strike side carries more load and fails first. A heavy impact-rated door panel that starts dragging, then requires a two-handed shove, then sticks entirely is nearly always a flattened roller bearing. What owners don’t expect: this is a parts problem, not an adjustment problem. We replace rollers in matched sets, and on CGI doors we verify the track is still in gauge, because a worn track will eat a new roller set in under a year. We see this more in hillside homes in Los Feliz and Mount Washington where door settlement adds uneven load.
  • Estate Collection fixed windows: seal failure between the laminated glass layers that shows up as interior fogging. Any impact-rated laminated unit can develop an interlayer issue, but the Estate Collection’s large fixed lites are the ones we replace most often in LA for visible hazing. It’s tempting to read this as a frame failure. It isn’t. The glass unit has reached the end of its service life, and the repair is glass replacement, not frame replacement. We order the replacement unit matched to CGI’s glazing spec, including the tint and Low-E coating, and the only real question is whether it’s still under CGI’s glass warranty. We’ll tell you before we quote it.
  • CGI hinged impact doors: settling slabs and a throw that drifts. In newer construction from 2018 onward, we find foundation settlement and lumber shrinkage pulling door frames out of square in ways that a builder’s warranty never caught. This is common across all brands, but it shows up on CGI hinged doors as a top latch that stops engaging. The door isn’t broken; the rough opening moved. We don’t patch this with a strike plate nudge. We remove the casing, shim the jamb back to plumb and level, re-anchor it, and the door closes like it did on day one. In Encino and Sherman Oaks with expansive soils, this is a known reality we expect before we ever open the door.

Our CGI Impact Windows & Doors Process

Our CGI Impact Windows & Doors Process

We don’t change our process because the product has a CGI sticker on it. The process is the same one we’ve run on more than 18,000 openings since 2012, and it exists because the founder’s rule is that the measurement and the quote are the same document. Sonia Raman’s signature phrase isn’t for the brochure; it’s how our crews open a job: Measure once, write it down, then measure again.

  1. 1
Written survey, kept by you. A technician measures every opening we’ll touch and records frame readings, sightline measurements, and glass specs. You get a copy before any price exists.
  2. 2
Diagnosis in plain English. We tell you what failed, why it failed here in LA specifically, and whether the fix is a part, a glass unit, or a full replacement. If it’s under warranty, we tell you and we’ll help you file it, because that’s the right thing to do even though we’re independent.
  3. 3
Written price before any tool is lifted. Haven Clause 1. The price names parts, labor, and finish. It doesn’t change unless you change the scope.
  4. 4
Parts decision on the table. Where OEM makes sense, we use OEM. Where a spec-matched aftermarket part delivers equal or better life for less money, we show you both and you decide. We don’t hide margin in a “house brand” part.
  5. 5
Install to the opening, not the other way around. We square the rough opening before the window or door goes in, which is the step most rushed installs skip.
  6. 6
Evidence when we’re done. You get a documented photo record of the finished work, the written warranty, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right. That’s Haven Clause 5 and it’s written, not spoken.

What CGI Impact Windows & Doors Costs in Los Angeles

Here’s what we write on actual Los Angeles quotes, in dollars, because a price range that lives only in a phone call isn’t a price range.

Scenario Typical LA Price Range
Single CGI hung window: balance replacement, both sides $180-$320
CGI sliding door: full roller set replacement, track in gauge $340-$590
CGI hinged door: re-square jamb, re-anchor hinges, adjust throw $400-$750
CGI fixed or casement window: operator and multi-point lock repair $250-$480
CGI laminated glass unit replacement (per lite, size dependent) $600-$1,500
Full CGI impact window replacement, installed (per opening) $1,600-$3,800
Full CGI impact sliding door replacement, installed $3,200-$7,500

What moves the price: access (a second-floor opening with no interior reach adds labor), glass size and tint, whether the frame is salvageable, and whether we’re matching an existing CGI finish or quoting a full-series replacement. Every quote is written, line-itemed, and yours to keep. If you already have a written estimate from another company, we’ll review it at no charge and tell you what we see. Why Los Angeles Homeowners Call Sightline Windows & Doors for CGI Work

Why Los Angeles Homeowners Call Sightline Windows & Doors for CGI Work

We’re not the only company in Los Angeles that can order a CGI part. That’s not the distinction. The distinction is the paper trail you get from the first visit to the last.

Every job starts with a measured survey you keep. Every job ends with a documented photo record you keep. The written price precedes the work, always, because the company was built against the “call for quote” model in 2012. The tech who arrives is background-checked, uniformed, and identified by license number before they walk up your drive: Haven Clause 3. And because we specify across eight manufacturer lines, including PGT, CWS, ES Windows, and ECO Window Systems, we’re not forcing a CGI part where a PGT part would serve better. We tell you what the opening requires, not what’s on our truck. If you want a second opinion on any written estimate, ours is free.
