PGT Impact Windows & Doors in Los Angeles: What to Know First

We install, service, and replace PGT impact windows and doors throughout Los Angeles as an independent PGT service provider, not a factory-authorized dealer. Most PGT impact window replacements take 3 to 5 business days from written estimate to completed install, depending on product line and lead time from PGT’s Florida manufacturing. Every job starts with a written price before any work begins, because the measured survey and the quote are the same document under Haven Clause 1.

Call (509) 265-6387

This page is for Los Angeles homeowners who bought PGT impact windows and doors between roughly 2015 and 2025, and who want a straight answer on whether a failing unit should be repaired or replaced. If that’s you, call (509) 265-6387 and ask for a measured survey. You keep the document whether you hire us or not.

How PGT Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

The failures we see on PGT impact units in Los Angeles are different from what you’d see in Miami or Fort Lauderdale. Our climate is drier, our UV exposure is intense, and our coastal salt air does different things to hardware than hurricane-driven rain. Here’s what we actually find when we open up a PGT unit in a Los Angeles home.

  • WinGuard vinyl frame seal fatigue at the meeting rail. PGT’s WinGuard line, the most common impact series we see in Los Angeles, uses a compression gasket at the meeting rail that dries out and takes a set after roughly 8 to 10 years of direct afternoon sun. The window still looks fine from the street, but air and water start moving through the center seam. We remove the sash, replace the gasket with the factory-spec profile, and reset the interlock. It’s a same-day fix on a single-hung unit.
  • Sentinel sliding door roller wear on hillside lots. PGT’s Sentinel sliding glass doors run on tandem steel rollers. On Los Angeles hillside homes, particularly in Silver Lake, Echo Park, and Mount Washington, the house settles a fraction over the years and the door tracks shift out of level. The rollers then carry more weight than they were rated for and flatten on the bottom. We don’t just swap rollers. We first check track level with a laser and correct the reveal before any new hardware goes in. If you replace rollers without leveling, you’ll do it again in two years.
  • HVH series interlayer delamination from reflected heat. PGT’s HVH (High Velocity Hurricane) series, the heavier Miami-Dade-rated line, occasionally shows delamination at the top corner of west-facing windows where the laminated glass gets hit by reflected heat off a neighboring wall or hardscape. This shows up as a small cloudy patch at the edge that spreads slowly. The unit hasn’t failed structurally, but the interlayer is degrading. This one is nearly always a replace, not a repair. We measure the opening, confirm the IG unit spec with PGT’s current iteration, and quote the replacement glass as a written line item before ordering.
  • Eze-Breeze slider track sand intrusion in canyon zones. Eze-Breeze vertical sliding impact windows show up on enclosed patios across the San Fernando Valley, and the vertical track is a magnet for windblown sand and grit on canyon-adjacent homes in Studio City, Sherman Oaks, and the northern edge of the Valley. Debris packs into the track channel, the polycarbonate panel binds, and homeowners force the sash until the latch snaps. We clear the track, realign the glides, and replace broken latches with the correct profile for the panel generation. This is one of those repairs where the failure is the environment, not the product.
  • PGT aluminum impact-frame installation errors from prior contractors. This isn’t a factory defect, it’s an install defect we see often enough to mention. On PGT aluminum impact windows, some contractors shimmed the frame aggressively against out-of-square rough openings and then sealed the gap with caulk alone. In Los Angeles, where the temperature swings from 50 at night to 90 the next afternoon, that caulk fails at the corners. The fix is removing the interior trim, pulling the bad shims, re-shimming correctly, and re-flashing the opening. We’ve done this on PGT frames across Glendale, Burbank, and Pasadena.

Our PGT Impact Windows & Doors Process

Our PGT Impact Windows & Doors Process

Every PGT job follows the same sequence, and you get a document at each step. No verbal promises, no surprises. Here’s how it works.

  1. 1
Call and schedule a measured survey. You call (509) 265-6387. A live person answers, regardless of the hour. We set a time. No automated callback windows.
  2. 2
We measure, photograph, and document. The tech arrives at the scheduled time, in uniform, with a background check already on file from Haven Clause 3. We measure the rough opening, check frame readings, sightlines, and glass specs. We document what’s failing.
  3. 3
The written quote, before any work starts. The measured survey becomes the written quote. Same document. The price cannot change because the measurements cannot change. If we discover something inside the wall, we stop and show you, with a written change order, before proceeding.
  4. 4
Parts decision: OEM vs. quality aftermarket. On PGT work, we default to factory-spec parts while your warranty is active. On some discontinued PGT series, factory parts are no longer available, and we’ll tell you that plainly, then specify an aftermarket option with equivalent ratings. You decide before we order. No surprises at the invoice.
  5. 5
Installation and test. We set the unit, level it, seal it, and test it. On impact windows we verify the interlock engages fully. On sliders we move the panel through its full travel. On multi-point hardware we test the hex key and check engagement at every point.
  6. 6
Documented photo record and the 365-Day Done Right Promise. You get photo documentation of the completed work, inside and out. If something isn’t right within 365 days, we make it right. That’s Haven Clause 5, not a courtesy.

What PGT Impact Windows & Doors Costs in Los Angeles

Here are real price ranges for common PGT impact window and door work in Los Angeles. These are installed prices, not parts-only. What moves the number is product line, glass package, access, and whether we’re repairing existing frames or replacing entire units.

  • Single hung PGT impact window replacement: $1,400 to $2,800 per opening, installed, depending on size and WinGuard vs. HVH series.
  • Double hung PGT impact window replacement: $1,800 to $3,400 per opening, installed.
  • PGT horizontal roller impact window: $1,500 to $3,200 per unit, depending on width and glass package.
  • PGT Sentinel sliding door replacement: $4,500 to $9,000 installed, depending on width, configuration, and frame material.
  • Common repairs (gaskets, rollers, latches, track work): $180 to $650 per unit, parts and labor.
  • PGT impact glass replacement only (frame is sound): $600 to $1,800 per sash or door panel, depending on size and laminated glass spec.

These numbers are written ranges, not quotes. Your exact price comes from the measured survey. Call (509) 265-6387 to get a written price before any work starts. The estimate is free, and you keep the measurements whether or not you move forward.

Why Los Angeles Homeowners Call Sightline Windows & Doors for PGT Work

Why Los Angeles Homeowners Call Sightline Windows & Doors for PGT Work

We’re not the biggest window company in Los Angeles, and that’s not our goal. We’re the company that writes the price down before a tool is lifted, and that has been the rule since 2012, when Sonia Raman founded Sightline under the Haven Standard. Eighteen thousand windows and doors installed since then, every one with a written price before work started and a documented photo record when it finished.

We know PGT because we work on it constantly. And when a PGT unit can’t be economically repaired, we’re not stuck with one brand. We specify from CGI, CWS, ES Windows, and ECO Window Systems as the opening requires, not what we happen to have in the warehouse. If you bring us a competitor’s written estimate, we’ll review it at no charge. We don’t match numbers without seeing the scope, but we’ll tell you exactly what’s in the quote and what’s missing from it.
